Terms and Conditions

Effective January 1, 2026

J&K Alexandria Concrete Company, alexandriaconcretecompany.com, quotes@alexandriaconcretecompany.com

Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover your use of the J&K Alexandria Concrete Company website and any estimate, scheduling or work you arrange with us through it. By using the site or asking us for an estimate, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

When we sign a written agreement for a specific job, that agreement controls wherever it differs from these terms.

What we do and what the website is for

J&K Alexandria Concrete Company is a concrete contractor in Alexandria, VA. We build driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, foundations, footings and other flatwork, which means the flat slabs you walk or drive on. You can read more about us on our about page.

What you read on our home page and the rest of the site is general information about concrete work. It isn't a quote, a promise that a method fits your property, or engineering advice, because no two yards drain, settle or slope the same way. We can only tell you what your job needs after we've seen it.

Estimates and pricing

Our estimates are free and come with no obligation. We give them after we've looked at your property, since the size of the area, how much old concrete comes out, the condition of the ground underneath, access for the truck and the finish you choose all change the price.

An estimate covers the work it describes and nothing more. If we find something once the job is open that nobody could see beforehand, such as soft or wet ground under an old slab, buried debris or roots, we'll stop, show you and explain the options before doing extra work. Changes you ask for during the job are priced and agreed with you before we do them.

Estimates hold for the period written on them. After that, material prices can change, so we may need to update the number.

Scheduling, weather and cancellation

We set a start date with you once the estimate is accepted. Concrete depends on the weather, so we may move a pour if rain, freezing temperatures or extreme heat would weaken the slab. When that happens, we'll tell you as early as we can and set the next workable date, and neither of us owes the other anything for the delay.

Please make sure we can reach the work area on the scheduled day, with vehicles moved, gates unlocked and pets inside. If a pour can't go ahead because the site wasn't ready, any cost we've already taken on, such as a concrete delivery, may be charged to you.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (571) 760-4255 as soon as you know. Cancelling before we order materials or start work usually costs nothing. If materials have been ordered or work has started, you'll pay for what's been ordered and done up to that point, as your written agreement sets out.

Payment

Your written agreement sets out any deposit, when the remaining payments are due and the ways you can pay. Final payment is due when the work described in the agreement is finished, even if you're still waiting out the curing time, the days the concrete needs to harden before it's used.

If a payment is late, we may pause further work until it's settled and may charge late fees or use other remedies that Virginia law allows. Please tell us right away if there's a problem with the work rather than holding back payment, so we can come look at it.

Caring for new concrete

Fresh concrete is easy to damage while it cures. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and when it's safe to drive on, and we can't be responsible for marks, chips or cracks caused by people, pets, vehicles or equipment on the slab before then.

Over time, the slab's surface also depends on how it's treated. Damage from heavy equipment beyond what the slab was built for, harsh chemicals, deicing products the concrete wasn't meant for, or changes to drainage made after we leave falls outside our work.

Warranty and what concrete does on its own

Any warranty on our workmanship is the one written in your agreement, and only that one applies. We don't make any other promises, spoken or implied, including promises that the work suits a particular purpose, except where Virginia law doesn't allow them to be excluded.

Concrete shrinks as it dries and moves with heat and cold, so small hairline cracks are normal and aren't a defect. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack out of sight, but they can't stop every crack. Small differences in color and texture from one section to the next are normal too, especially when new concrete sits next to old.

We aren't responsible for problems that come from ground movement, tree roots, flooding, soil we weren't hired to test or fix, or work done by others.

Limits on our liability

J&K Alexandria Concrete Company is licensed and fully insured. As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

We aren't liable for indirect losses, such as lost use of your driveway, lost income or the cost of other plans that change because of a weather delay. We also aren't liable for anything that comes from using information on this website without having us look at your property first.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that Virginia law doesn't allow a business to limit.

Settling a disagreement

If something isn't right, call us or reach us through our contact page first. Most problems are fixed fastest when we can come out and look at them with you.

If we can't work it out between us, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before going to court, unless one of us needs urgent relief from a court.

Which law applies

These terms, and any job we do under them, are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. That's true even when the job is in one of the Maryland cities we serve, unless Maryland law requires otherwise for that job. Any court case goes to the state courts in Virginia that have authority over it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the current one. Changes don't affect a written agreement we've already signed with you.

If you have questions about these terms, call us at (571) 760-4255 or send a message through our contact page.
